Shelby County H1N1 Death Confirmed
Memphis City School and Memphis and Shelby County Health Department
H1N1 Information Hot lines Activated
The Memphis and Shelby County Health Department has confirmed the death of an 8th grade child who attended White Station Middle School as a result of the H1N1 influenza. The child became ill last week and died at an area hospital. Kenneth S. Robinson, M.D., Shelby County Health Officer, announced that this is the first known death in Shelby County as a result of H1N1 influenza.
To assist parents and other concerned citizens regarding questions about the H1N1 influenza, Memphis City Schools has activated an "H1N1" phone information hot line, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. The number to call is: 901.416.2569. More information may be obtained at www.mcsk12.net.
Additionally, the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department is now offering an H1N1 information hot line. Please call 901.379.H1N1, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily for any questions regarding the H1N1 influenza. The Health Department's recorded information line is 901.544.6969.
